St. Mark brought the Gospel to Egypt. While most Egyptians are Muslim, up to 10 percent are Christian, mostly Coptic Orthodox. The churches focus much of their resources on the youth — job opportunities are few. CNEWA helps the churches build community centers and clinics; educates priests and sisters; cares for orphaned or impoverished children, providing shelter, schooling, food and clothing; and supports outreach efforts for Sudanese refugees.
